Conceived during Rbera - Artist Residency by Cândida Rocha, Johanna Bramble, Manu Soares, Marcelino Santos, Rita Rainho, Rosilene Delgado and Vanessa Monteiro.

Produced by Atelier Djoy Soares, using a blend of clay from the islands of São Vicente and Santo Antão. A versatile plate or mould. Works on its own or as a set.

Synopsis

Master weaver Mr. Marcelino dos Santos tells us that one of the patterns of traditional Cape Verdean panaria is made up of the stylised figure of cotton. From the figure in the cloth, by way of paper, it returned to the earth and, from the clay, ceramic pieces grew for many occasions, among them goat’s cheese moulds.
