How can thought and artistic practices around cotton, its historical power and its stories of resistance, bring about different processes of intersection between the forces of art, ecology and social transformation in a context of environmental, cognitive, political and cultural crises? The “Neve Insular 0.0003% - Cotton and Resistance” programme is closely linked to the ni artistic project and to the research project “Cotton and Resistance from Cabo Verde - cultivating thought and artistic practices for a history of the present”.

This was the Neve Insular collective’s first international exhibition. It reflected their artistic practice rooted in 0.0003% of the land surface of São Vicente island, Cape Verde, cultivated with cotton and other species in partnership with the Associação Agropecuária do Calhau e Madeiral. A nothing-everything committed to the memory of the colonial cotton plantation and to new propositions of knowing-making-thinking linked to the cotton plant.
The exhibition occupied the entire first floor of the Cape Verde Cultural Centre in Lisbon, and its three rooms invited three atmospheres, with works exploring a range of media: installations, textile sculptures, audiovisual work and photography, among others.
